A Rum Affair: The Exposure of Botany's Piltdown Man - Brossura

In the 1940s a distinguished professor of botany, J W Heslop Harrison announced the discovery of rare plants on the Isle of Rum in the Hebrides. This was the last straw for his botanical colleagues - the latest of a series of discoveries that had aroused suspicion over the years, many botanists believing he had invented the discoveries. A young Cambridge Don infiltrated the professor's expeditions and accussed him of faking his results. Then - silence. The report was buried for 50 years but has recently been uncovered by Karl Sabbagh and used as a starting point in unravelling a story that has been called the "Piltdown Man of Botany".
