Descrizione libro Hard Civer. Condizione: Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: No Dust Jacket. Illustrated by Shirley Felts (illustratore). Reprint. 1. Illustrated with numerous color plates selected from the original five-volume edition and specially created illustrations by Shirley Felts. Mary Russell Mitford was born in Hampshire in 1787 and her village sketches, which after a time were augmented by memories from her childhood and stories from further afield, were first published in book form, in five volumes, between 1824 and 1832. But though her work was successful, it did not make her rich, and when increasing ill health obliged her to give up writing, Queen Victoria herself contributed to a private fund formed to supplement Miss Mitford's Civil List pension. This new selection of her sketches of village life is lavishly illustrated with contemporary paintings, complemented wit specially commissioned watercolours and pencil drawings that recapture a long-vanished rural England. Some dampstaining on rear pages. Reading Copy Only. GOOD. . Color Illustrations. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. 223 pp. Codice articolo 24577
