Very pale green textured cloth boards with gilt titles to spine. Sharp cornered and practically no wear to the spine ends. Charming rose pink endpapers with floral design. Text block a little toned to the edges. Book is in very good condition with numerous illustrations in black and white and colour throughout the text. Attractively illustrated jacket which is in fair condition. A number of closed tears have been neatly repaired and there is a chip to the rear. Edges are rubbed and unclipped flap to front has a dog ear. This book traces the transformation of tile making from an art to an industry in the nineteenth century, focusing on the men and the methods of production that contributed to its development in England and America.
