William Blake (1757 –1827) was an English poet, painter, and printmaker. Largely unrecognised during his lifetime, Blake is now considered a seminal figure in the history of the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age. His so-called prophetic works were said by 20th century critic Northrop Frye to form "what is in proportion to its merits the least read body of poetry in the English language". William Blake was born on 28 November 1757 at 28 Broad Street (now Broadwick St.) in Soho, London. He was the third of seven children, two of whom died in infancy. Blake's father, James, was a hosier. He attended school only long enough to learn reading and writing, leaving at the age of ten, and was otherwise educated at home by his mother Catherine Blake. Even though the Blakes were English Dissenters, William was baptised on 11 December at St James's Church, Piccadilly, London. The Bible was an early and profound influence on Blake, and remained a source of inspiration throughout his life.In this book:Songs of Innocence, and Songs of ExperienceINTRODUCTIONTHE SHEPHERDTHE ECHOING GREENTHE LAMBTHE LITTLE BLACK BOYTHE BLOSSOMTHE CHIMNEY-SWEEPERTHE LITTLE BOY LOSTTHE LITTLE BOY FOUNDLAUGHING SONGA CRADLE SONGTHE DIVINE IMAGEHOLY THURSDAYNIGHTSPRINGNURSE’S SONGINFANT JOYA DREAMON ANOTHER’S SORROWSONGS OF EXPERIENCEINTRODUCTIONEARTH’S ANSWERTHE CLOD AND THE PEBBLEHOLY THURSDAYTHE LITTLE GIRL LOSTTHE LITTLE GIRL FOUNDTHE CHIMNEY-SWEEPERNURSE’S SONGTHE SICK ROSETHE FLYTHE ANGELTHE TIGERMY PRETTY ROSE TREEAH, SUNFLOWERTHE LILYTHE GARDEN OF LOVETHE LITTLE VAGABONDLONDONTHE HUMAN ABSTRACTINFANT SORROWA POISON TREEA LITTLE BOY LOSTA LITTLE GIRL LOSTA DIVINE IMAGEA CRADLE SONGTHE SCHOOLBOYTO TIRZAHTHE VOICE OF THE ANCIENT BARDThe book of ThelPoetical sketchesTo SpringTo SummerTo AutumnTo WinterTo the Evening StarTo MorningFair EleanorThere is no natural religionAll Religions are OneTo NobodaddyProverbs of HellOf the gatesTo the Accuser Who Is The God of This WorldVisions of the Daughters of AlbionThe Land of DreamsSatiric verses and epigrams from Blake's NotebookThe marriage of Heaven and HellThe ArgumentTHE VOICE OF THE DEVILA MEMORABLE FANCYPROVERBS OF HELLA MEMORABLE FANCYA MEMORABLE FANCYA MEMORABLE FANCYA MEMORABLE FANCYA SONG OF LIBERTYCHORUSAn Island in the MoonAmerica a ProphecyThe Book of UrizenThe Book of AhaniaThe Book of LosThe Song of LosSongs and BalladsA Cradle SongTo my MirtleEternityTo NobodaddySoft SnowMerlins prophecyDayThe FairyThe KidMorningThe BirdsDedication to Blake's Illustrations to Blair's Grave, printedTo the QueenFrom Blake’s NotebookA Separate ManuscriptWith Blake's Illustrations to Gray's PoemsTo Mrs Ann FlaxmanThe Pickering ManuscriptThe Golden NetThe Mental TravellerThe Land of DreamsMaryThe Crystal CabinetThe Grey MonkAuguries of InnocenceLong John Brown & Little Mary BellWilliam BondMr Blake's Nursery Rhyme
