Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Limited Edition (1/525). Quarto (9.75 in. x 7.50 in.). Olive green cloth over black and white marbled boards. Moderate rubbing to extremities, spotting to endpapers. Publisher's red speckling to all edges. Decorated endpapers in a tree-like pattern, yellow and brown. Limited Edition of 525 copies (this copy unnumbered) of a series of letters written by Charles Dickens to writer Mark Lemon between 1847 and 1857 tells "of the close friendship existing between these two." In addition "Perhaps the most important feature of these letters is that they revive the whole question of the attraction the stage had for the great novelist.", a fact borne out by the inclusion of facsimiles of 8 theatrical posters of productions in which Dickens had some role. Nice copy which then (1927) was the first publication of these letters, helping fill out this particular decade (18478-1857) in the career of this literary giant.
