Condizione: Very Good +. First Edition, First Printing. 22 unnumbered pages : illustrations ; 28 cm. Staplebound wraps. Book condition: A turned corner, a scuff or two else fine. Essay by Joanne Barkan, and Jon R. Friedman and reproductions of 22 of the pieces featured in exhibition. Exhibition catalog for "City Wildlife Projects Presents: Animals in the Arsenal: March 4 Thru April 28, 1981, the Arsenal Gallery". Included the work of 57 artists, and attracted newspaper attention when Paulette Nenner's ''Crucified Coyote,'' a stuffed dead coyote nailed to a 11-foot-tall wooden cross was ordered removed from the show by Parks Commissioner Gordon Davis. Nenner said she saw the piece as "a reaction to certain Judeo-Christian concepts which inadvertently alienated humanity from animals and the rest of nature when individual worth became a major religious tradition." That explanation didn't win over then New York City Parks Commissioner Gordon Davis, who had the work removed from Animals in the Arsenal within a few hours of its opening.

Libro Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. Friedman, Jon (illustratore). 1st Edition. Fine unread condition navy blue boards with gold spine lettering contained in a fine condition non price-clipped color illustrated dust jacket. Includes List of Other Books by Stephen E. Ambrose; Introduction; and About the Author. Illustrated with black-and-white drawings. "Three happy brothers -- Stephen, WIlliam, and Harry -- with our father at a 1978 banquet in Whitewater, Wisconsin, honoring Dad. He had just said publicly how proud he was of us, which gave us a moment -- a lifetime -- of ecstasy. Typically, in his speech he never mentioned himself nor what he had done to deserve this honor, but we were terribly pleased that it was happening and enormously proud to be there. Dad managed to turn up the corners of his mouth in the beginning of a grin for the photographer. That night we went back to our childhood home and slept in the beds we used as children -- bliss." - Stephen E. Ambrose, from the rear outer jacket. "Comrades is a celebration of male friendships. Acclaimed historian Stephen Ambrose begins his examination with a glance inward -- he starts this book with his brothers, his first and forever friends, and the shared experiences that join them for a lifetime, overcoming distance and misunderstandings. He next writes of Dwight D. Eisenhower, who had a golden gift for friendship and who shared a perfect trust with his younger brother Milton in spite of their apparently unequal stations. With great emotion, Ambrose describes the relationships of the young soldiers of Easy Company who fought and died together from Normandy to Germany, and he recalls with admiration three unlikely friends who fought in different armies in that war. He recounts the friendships of Lewis and Clark and of Crazy Horse and He Dog, and he tells the story of the Custer brothers who died together at the Little Big Horn. Ambrose remembers and celebrates the friends he has made and kept throughout his life. Comrades concludes with the author's recollection of his own friendship with his father. "He was my first and always most important friend," Ambrose writes. "I didn't learn that until the end, when he taught me the most important thing, that the love of father-son-father-son is a continuum, just as love and friendship are expansive." -- from the inner front jacket flap.

CCAC Institute San Francisco and Four Walls. Memorial Day Weekend 28 May - 31 May 1999." 360:115mm. 56S. Zahlr. Ilustr. Illustr. Or.-Brosch. Ausstellungskatalog. ""Life in Space, Phase 1: .," a 'Three Day Weekend' event organized by Dave Muller, is designed to take place in a long Bi-level hallway situated at the new CCAC San Francisco campus. One Space is a finished corridor that bisects the building into two spaces called 'Alpha' and 'Beta.' Its primary function is to create flow and access. Directly below is an unfinished space, almost a service tunnel. Dimly lit, it serves as the 'control center' for the school, housing all electrical boxes, and computerized systems. Although the two spaces share the same floorplan, each has an entirely different feel. Moreover, artists have been asked to create two similar works for this Bi-level hallway situation. The two similar works will be installed directly above and below one another. In effect, the exhibition will replicated itself, allowing the viewer to experience the same work under extremely different circumstances." Mit der Teilnahme von Lisa Anne Auerbach, Kristen Calebrese, Casteneda & Reiman, Expedienciia, Scott Hewickwer, Terry Hoff, Terri Friedman, Linder & Shields & Peipon & Rogan & Sloyan, Jason Middlebrook, Jon Pestoni, Elisabeth Saveri, Alex Slade, Mary Weatherford. "Dave Muller, born 1964 in San Francisco, became known for nomadic social art events, known as Three Day Weekends. Three Day Weekend are vacation-length shows Dave Muller organized, on "bank holidays" for more than a decade from 1994 to 2000. Occasional hosting of those shows was in an exhibition space called "Three Day Week-end" in Angeleno Heights (the oldest commuter neighbourhood in LA). It´s here that Muller hosts three-day-long group shows featuring his friends and artists he likes, held whenever there´s a public holiday situated on a Friday or Monday. Unlike the commercial gallery openings out in Santa Monica, at "Three Day Weekend" there´s no pressure to see and be seen: Dave Muller´s receptions involve listening to an art-garage band, or eating a hot dog.".
