Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. 258pp. A NR FINE copy. It was the worst travesty of American justice since the infamous Scottsboro trials. Four young men were railroaded into prison for a 1978 kidnapping, rape and double murder which they did not commit. They had no history of violence but collectively they spent 65 years in prison, two of them on death row - put there by police and prosecutorial misconduct, perjured evidence, incorrect forensic tests and the ineptitude of defence lawyers. The authors form ed a group of people to help the boys and gathered enough evidence to exonerate the Ford Heights Four and find the real killers. A shocking story of a travesty of American justice. Index.

hardcover, 6½" x 9½", with dust jacket 258 pages Four young men from suburban Chicago - boyhood friends with no history of violence - were railroaded into prison for a 1978 interracial kidnapping, rape, and double murder they did not commit. Their trials were marred by police and prosecutorial misconduct, perjured testimony, incorrect forensic tests, and inept defense lawyers. The Ford Heights Four spent 65 years in prison collectively, before a private group gathered new evidence to have them exonerated, and brought the true killers to trial. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, and usual stamps, stickers, barcode etc. GOOD book in GOOD unclipped dust jacket.

Prima edizione Copia autografata
Hardcover. Small 4to. Yellow cloth spine and black paper over boards, pictorial dust jacket. viii, 258pp. Near fine/near fine. A tight and handsome first edition of this "Eighteen-Year Fight to Save Four Innocent Man," as the front jacket panel proclaims. Not only have both authors signed (in blue ballpoint and purple fineline, respectively) the front flyleaf -- but two of the book's four subjects, Dennis Williams and Kenneth Adams (who dates his "9-3-98"), have also signed in ink as well. Williams, Adams and two other Chicago black men were falsely accused of a 1978 rape and double murder, convicted and imprisoned -- Protess and Warden headed the team that proved their innocence and got them released.
