Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Limited edition. Large folio hardcover in decorated gray cloth boards and red cloth with gilt lettering and grey endpapers; b&w illustrations; unpaged. Very scarce: From rear endpaper: "Of this reproduction, lithographed by Charles R. Wood and Associates, of San Francisco, the edition is limited to 350 numbered copies only. Coleridge's peom with Doré's illustratiosn was first published in London, 1875, Paris, 1976-1877, and New York, 1877. The present repdorduction is a facsimile of a copy of a New York printing of 1884., except that the cover has been redisigned in a manner more in keeping with the present-day taste. The stock, Curtis Colophon, was selected because its finish and color closely resemble those of the copy reproduced. The black ink is neutral in tone and non-gloss, in conformity with the standards of the nineteenth century. THIS COPY IS NUMBER 352." 352 is handwritten in red ink. **A larger, heavy book. Extra shipping charges may apply.**. Near fine copy. Ex-library with call number written in white on lower spine, library card rear endpaper, and library bookplate on verso front endpaper with small "DISCARDED" stamp; very light rubbing to cloth corners at head and foot of spine, but no open fraying; gift inscription in pen on front endpaper; barely noticeable soiling to cover board; else excellent copy; pages and illustrations are clean, bright and free of marks and creases; binding is tight.

Da: Riverby Books, Fredericksburg, VA, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Huge hardcover. 15 x 18.5 inches. Brown cloth with gold lettering and decorations. Cloth is faded and speckled. Damage to the crown of the spine. Corners bumped. Page edges gilt. 12 numbered pages + 38 full page plates. Of the 12 numbered pages, one is the title page and one is a full page plate -- so there are in fact only 7 pages with the text of the poem; the rest are illustrated pages. Plates are on heavy paper, printed on one side only. There are some stains in the margins and some fading to the pages, but the plates themselves are quite free from damage, except one where there is a ghost of the tissue cover. The binding is broken after page 12, but only one plate is detached; the others are still bound in. It could be repaired quite easily. First published in the US in 1877, this 1882 edition is harder to come by. Please email with questions or to request photos. Some extra shipping charges will be required to pack and send safely.

Cloth. Condizione: Very Good. Gustave Dore (illustratore). Very Good. Elephant Folio, 18 1/2" x 14 5/8". 12 pp. of text which include vignette illus. on title pg, another large oval illus. and two text illus., plus 37 plates. The dark green cloth has dec. gilt-stamping on front, with spine letters reversed in gilt; olive green eps, a.e.g. Condition: corners bumped and extremities worn, with raw places sealed a bit amateurishly, but not bad looking. The all-original cover is further enhanced with gilt-embossed albatross, and blind dec. paneling. There is some "bubbling" in cloth cover (probably a reaction to the 125-year old glue therein. Back cover, also with blind decorative paneling, shows moderate scuffing and discoloration from the elements and time, but there are NO water stains, coffee cup markins, or any other injurious blemishes. Binding is firm and straight. The front end papers (original) have minor wear, back eps are quite good. Printed pages and plates throughout are Vg to Nf and a pleasure to behold. For an original publication, with no rebacking, rebinding etc.etc., this is a nice copy of an all-time classic. It is one that can be handled, without white gloves, to be enjoyed and treasured for a moderate investment. Additional information upon request.
