Originalbroschur. Condizione: Gut. XXIII, 614 S. Papierbedingt leicht gebräunt. - The aim of this edition, first published in the Oxford Standard Authors series, is to provide the general reader with a complete and authoritative text of Coleridge's poems, and at the same time to furnish the student with a summary of various readings derived from published and unpublished sources. The text follows that of the 1834 edition, the last published in the author's lifetime, with footnotes indicating the variants from earlier editions and from manuscript drafts and alternative versions. Coleridge's emendations are rarely 'light-heartednesses', and the collation of the printed text with manuscript sources undertaken by E. H. Coleridge, grandson of the poet, is a valuable feature of this edition. The poems are printed, so far as is possible, in chronological order, with Coleridge's own notes as well as textual and bibliographical notes by the editor. Six poems of some length are here printed for the first time. A section is devoted to 'Metrical Experiments' and another to 'Fragments', most of the latter transcribed from the poet's manuscript Notebooks. Appendices contain first drafts and early versions, as well as the text of the 'Allegoric Vision' of 1795, and the 'Apologetic Preface' to Sibylline Leaves (1817), which Coleridge called his 'happiest effort in prose composition'. ISBN 0192810510 Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 550.
