Condizione: New. . . » - Alasdair Lees, _Independent_ TRADUCCIÓ D'ALEXANDRE GOMBAU I ARNAU *** Nota: Los envíos a España peninsular, Baleares y Canarias se realizan a través de mensajería urgente. Libro Prima edizione
Soft cover. Condizione: Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, SECOND printing; Trade paperback original. "First edition" statement and SECOND printing number code sequence as signified by Fence Books to the copyright page. The first printing was originally published by Fence Books in 2014. Winner of the Believer Book Award and the Fence Modern Prize in Prose. Moshfegh's debut book is a gritty and suspenseful historical novella set in 1851, featuring a violent and alcohol abusive American sailor, who awakens from a drunken blackout to find himself chained in a ship going to Salem Massachusetts for the murder trial of his best friend. "A sextant of the psyche, McGLUE works its grand knowing through the mouthfeel of language; it's a sharply intelligent, beautiful, and singular novel. A scion of Nathaniel Hawthorne and Raymond Carver at once, Moshfegh transforms a poison into an intoxicant"--Rivka Galchen. Fine, firm and tight in matt-laminated black stiff-card wraps with front cover design and image of an anchor tattooed hairy arm by Kathryn Fabrizio; original printed $15.95 price still intact to the rear cover. Libro Prima edizione
Soft cover. Condizione: As New. 1st Edition. Fence, Albany, 2014. First Edition. Scarce in the original Fence Book edition - this copy is a 1st Printing with a full number line down to 2 (Fence Books does not use a 1 in the number line). Winner of the Believer Book Award. This 2014 novella was Ottessa Moshfegh's debut, her first book. Originally published by Fence Books, it was reissued by Penguin Books in 2019. Issued in a tiny first printing by Fence, it quickly went into a later printing. In an interview with The White Review, Moshfegh talked about her experience with writing McGlue: "McGlue was really a creative act of writing through spiritual possession. I mean, I wasn t intellectualizing, I wasn t thinking about plot. McGlue came out of me like some magical demon. And when that was over it was like, Oh, thank God. The Los Angeles Review of Books wrote, "Ottessa Moshfegh s first novel reads like the swashbuckled spray of a slit throat immediate, visceral, frank, unforgiving, violent, and grotesquely beautiful." It was selected by Rivka Galchen as the inaugural Fence Modern Prize in Prose.
