Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. First Japanese Edition. unpaginated. Black Pictorial boards. Fine in fine dustjacket with the original plastic dustjacket protector. When it first appeared in 1971, Larry Clark's groundbreaking book Tulsa sparked immediate controversy across the nation. The raw, haunting images taken in 1963, 1968, and 1971 document a youth culture progressively overwhelmed by self-destruction -- and are as moving and disturbing today as when they first appeared. Libro Prima edizione
First edition, first printing; 4to (305 x 223 mm, 12 x 8¾ in); black-and-white photographs printed in offset, toned; photo-illustrated adhesive-bound wrappers, corners lightly creased as often, other handling mark and a short tear at the foot of spine, a very good copy; [64]pp. Tulsa is a key work in post-war American photography, containing graphic photographs of sex, violence, and drug use in the Oklahoma suburb, much of which Clark participated in as well as documenting. Larry Clark was living with Gibson at the time, whom he introduced to Danny Seymour, a friend and neighbour of Robert Frank on the Bowery. Seymour paid for Tulsa to be printed, together with his own book, A Loud Song (1971), which Lustrum also issued. After this first edition sold out, Clark published two small editions himself. Gibson later clarified: 'What happened was that Larry always wanted to control the distribution of Tulsa himself. It was a difficult book, so when he was ready to publish it again it was his.'
